York Minister

York Minister is a building full of history, dating from the 8th centuary it is the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. Here you will find an atcitecurally magnificant building filled with stained glass and historical revelance and you can even stay for a Evensong service which run daily from 7am.

National Railway Museum

The world largest Railway museum, here you will find an enjoyable day out for all ages. The collection consists of over 100 locomotives and nearly 200 other items of rolling stock tells the railway story from the early 19th century to the present day. There are some interactive features scattered through the museum and a wealth of information available on locomotive related topics.

A unique attration that is not for the faint hearted, it is a different way to learn about 2,000 years of yorks history. It is very interactive with some of the grousom parts of history reinacted as you almost feel like you are a part of history...

 

The Wall and Bars

A free way to enjoy history, sceneray and the great outdoors witrh a walk along . The Wall was built during roman times in 71 AD and covered 21.5 hectares. The remaining parts of the wall date from between the 12-14th centuary and they are pinctuated by 3 main gateways which are the Bootham Bar, Monk Bar, Walmgate Bar and Micklegate Bar.
